Guru Smt Nityalakshmi Iyer is a distinguished and highly versatile artist with a Master’s degree in Performing Arts in Bharatanatyam from Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya. Trained under the legendary Padma Bhushan awardee, the late Dr. Smt. Kanak Rele, she currently continues to deepen her expertise through advanced training under the renowned Guru Shri Deepak Majumdar. In addition to her mastery of Bharatanatyam, she is also trained in Carnatic music, further broadening her artistic repertoire.

Nityalakshmi’s journey in Bharatanatyam began at the tender age of five, and her dedication to the art form has led her to excel at highly competitive dance festivals, including the prestigious Khajuraho and Kala Ghoda Festivals. She is also a recipient of the coveted Nalanda Nritya Nipuna Award at the Mumbai Festival. Alongside her dance achievements, she has been recognized for her musical talent, winning prizes in Carnatic music at the university level.

Throughout her career, Nityalakshmi has performed extensively as a soloist and has also participated in group ballets under prestigious Government of India Department of Culture and Nehru Centre scholarships.

As the Artistic Director of the RagaMudra School of Music & Dance in Pleasanton, CA, Nityalakshmi is dedicated to imparting training in both Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music. She teaches students of all ages and levels, nurturing not only their technical skills but also their understanding of the deeper cultural and spiritual aspects of these classical art forms. Her students are trained with discipline, grace, and passion, ensuring they grow into accomplished and thoughtful artists.
